Green, Yellow, Red- Conduct Card

Green, Yellow, Red Conduct

1 Peter 1:15-16 NKJV 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your

conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Children often get a conduct report from school as a way to keep track of their behavior and inform their parents of any concerns. What if adults had conduct reports as well? What would that look like? What would be the areas of emphasis?

Perhaps one area of emphasis would be language, with conduct ratings for how many curse words were uttered or lies told. Perhaps it would also rate how kind we are with our words. Did we use our words for building up or tearing down?

Maybe another section would be purity. Did we commit any type of sexual immorality this week? Did we lust after another person. Did we view sexually suggestive or explicit content for entertainment? Did we make or listen to a vulgar joke?

Another possible section is anger. Did we lose our temper and lash out at someone? Would we be on a red warning for yelling at a loved one? Were we patient enough with those we claim to love the most?

Most of us are probably thankful that we do not receive a conduct report each week, but if we did what areas would you struggle with? Where would we need to improve our conduct? That answer likely looks different for each of us but is one we should all consider.

The Christian might not get a conduct card, but we are to be holy as God is holy. If our lives are not lived in such a way that bring glory to God, it’s probably time to examine our behavior. Join me this week and every week as we try conduct ourselves as disciples of Christ!
